Religion and the traditions of men are spiritual killers! In fact, Colossians says we should BEWARE so that philosophy, tradition and vain deceit don't keep the pure knowledge of God's Word from taking root in our hearts and lives. Have you ever wondered how the Pharisee's and Sadducee's could know so much about the Old Testament scriptures, and yet, they couldn't even understand Jesus - who was The Word made flesh in front of their very eyes? That is exactly what religion does in today's world, as well.
Remember, God is not limited by a recession or by the "what ifs" of our economy. He is Lord over ALL and He is our only hope in times of trouble. If not for the blessing of the Lord, we would all surely live in fear. But, PRAISE THE LORD... He has not given us a spirit of fear, but of POWER, and of LOVE, and of a SOUND MIND (2 Timothy 1:7).

We no longer take God's warning(s) serious. The result is that the church today lives - and looks - much like the world today, living in spiritual darkness and sickness.
"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us." (Hebrews 12:1 NLT)

You know we are no surprise to God. He made us, loves us, and APPROVES of us. He may not approve of the things we do, but He approves of us. We should be shouting for joy, lifting our faces because we have God on our side. Tooting our horn!
